Boho babes nappy features

Collectively Rhonda and I have put seven babies in cloth nappies. When we were in the designing stage of creating our Boho Babes cloth nappies we discussed many different features and why we felt they were important. We wanted to create a line of nappies that were not only functional but also stylish.

Sizing

The first feature we discussed was sizing. We wanted a nappy that allowed families to get the most value for their money and most use from their nappies. We went with a one-size-fits-most design with three rows of adjustment snaps at the front allowing for a great fit from just under 4kgs to around 18kgs. Our nappies also have wing snaps that prevent the wings from drooping and keep a firm (but gentle) fit around bubs thighs.

Style of nappy

We both loved the features that pocket nappies had to offer! We loved the convenience of being able to adjust the absorbency to suit your child and the fact that they were quick drying. We set out to create the "Ultimate pocket nappy" packed with all the best features of cloth nappies!

Leak protection

When looking at issues with leaking surrounding cloth nappies there are three main areas these leaks occur - front, back and around the legs. Though there are many reasons why leaks occur we wanted to minimise the issue as much as possible. Our nappies have a waterproof front 'flap' inside the nappy to help catch any liquid from front wetters and tummy sleepers. The back of the nappy also has a water resistant flap of fabric to help direct liquid down into the absorbent insert before it reaches the back elastic. One of the best features of our nappies is the inner gussets. These gussets help guide liquid into the center of the nappy to be absorbed into the absorbent insert below and also acts as a barrier to contain faecal waste and prevents it reaching the outer leg elastic. This means less leaks and less poo-explosions!

Inserts

There is nothing worse then purchasing a cloth nappy and having to pay to upgrade the insert from microfiber to bamboo! We didn't want our customers to have to pay any extra for an insert made of natural fibres and decided that Boho Babes cloth nappies would all come with bamboo terry inserts. Our inserts also feature a snap-in function that allows you to snap the insert within the pocket of the nappy at the front. This feature prevents the insert slipping down inside of the pocket when bub is moving around, potentially causing leaks.

Prints

This was the most difficult part to decide as there were so many amazing artists out there and it was hard to narrow them down. Our initial release featured the hand-painted images by Jade Nellens in the USA and you will continue to see her stunning work in future releases as well. We have also seen the cute Aussie animals on our 'Bush buddies' print designed by chalk artist Monique Cannon who resides locally to us on the Gold Coast, QLD, Australia. As our company has continued to grow we have had the wonderful experience of being able to reach out to our customers and ask them what prints they would like to see featured on a Boho babes nappy and we have found two amazing new artists - Rosanna Hayward who is a phenomenal portrait artist and Jodie Freeman who is a modern Aboriginal artist to bring our customers requests to life, in release four!
