Storing your cloth nappies

Storing for everyday use

Storing your nappies for everyday use is of personal choice and convenience. Many families store their cloth nappies in drawers, stackers or under the change table so they are in close reach at change time, it is whatever works best for you. However cloth nappies should not be stored in moist areas, as prolonged exposure to moisture can cause a mould infestation.

Long term storage

We recommend putting your nappies through a long, warm/hot (not above 60 degrees) wash and drying thoroughly prior to long term storage. If your nappies have a smell they may require a strip and sanitise prior to storage.

Ensure your nappies are not exposed to moisture, heat or direct sunlight when in long term storage. We recommend storing in an air-tight bag (not shopping bag) or container.

If storing for 3 to 6 months a vacuum seal bag can work perfectly (not vacuumed), however for longer periods of time a plastic storage container will be optimal. Ensure the nappies are not packed too tightly to help preserve the elastics and if you can place them first into a garment bag (not coloured) or wrap in a sheet, this will also help to maintain the nappies.
